August 3rd
When the group arrives in Timbermaw Hold, they notice that a few other night sabers had joined Ash’alah in the sliver of sunlight that was streaming down from the opening in the gorge overhead. Seria and Riff had returned to their elf forms.
Almost immediately, Seria opts to pull Riff aside as the group gets their bearings and starts to disperse.
Riff says: Hey mada, what’s up?
Seria says: So I know you were up to somethin’. What did ya do?
Riff says: What do you mean?
Seria says: Back at the isles.
Riff says: What did I do? Did I do somethin’ wrong?
Seria says: You’re hidin’ somethin’ from your mada, it’s clear on your face.
Riff says: Oh, I already told ya. I was sayin’ bye to some friends I made.
Seria gives Riff a look.
Riff says: And… maybe… some of your not friends… Mada I saw what he said to you. And what he said to Vel. I didn’ want him to think he could get away with stuff like that. So I told him not to do it again. That’s all.
Seria says: What exactly did ya do?
Riff says: I told ya. I told ‘im not to mess with you. Or Vel. Or any of our friends. Am I not supposed to do that either? Am I jussst supposed to hear sssomeone say ssssomethin’ like that to ya and just ignore it?
Seria says: How did you do it? Just go up to him?
Riff looks down and shakes his head.
Riff says: I sent him a message. He doesn’t know it was me.
He switches to telepathy.
Riff says [telepathically]: Like ‘dis.
Riff says: If ya ask me, he deserves it. Mada I know how much you had to hide and fight. Even here where you’re helpin’ to save people you don’t know! And still people say mean things. Ya shouldn’t have to hide like that with your family. It’s not fair, and someone like him should know that! He don’t even know what Vel is like. She’s not a monsta. She’s a good person. She’s a Death Adder.
Seria says: He didn’t have a good life either.
Riff says: That still ain’t no excuse.
Seria says: It’s not…
Seria falls into silence, rather unsure of what to say.
Riff says: Was what I did wrong? I didn’t hurt no one.
Seria says: What if you got caught?
Riff says: I would have flown away or somethin’.
Seria says: And if you were seen?
Riff says: I wasn’t gonna be seen! But I was mad. How would you have felt if he talked about your mada like that? I had to do somethin’. But I guess I… did take a couple of risks. I’m sorry if I made ya worry.
Seria pulls Riff in for a hug.
Seria says: I just don’t want nothin’ happenin’ to ya.
Riff says: I know.
Seria ruffles his hair.
Seria says: You don’t gotta worry about your mada.
Riff says: I know! You’re big and tough. No one can beat you. Especially not a big jerk-dummy like him!
Seria ruffles his hair more.
Seria says: See, ya got nothin’ to worry about.
Riff smiles up at her and the pair goes off.
As the group makes their way to check in on everything, they hear a voice from above.
Overhead Voice says: So that’s what the sound was. You must have just got back then?
They look up above and they see the Unseen Path sentinel from before, and she pulls the hood down from her head–revealing tealish-green hair. She smiles and offers a small wave. Two other individuals are stationed with her–one of them is Morra Starbreeze, and Elissa freezes and her eyes light up. The other is a priestess with long, thick purple hair and reddish tattoos dressed in an amber half-dress: Belysra Starbreeze.
They head down from the ledge they were positioned on, and the Unseen Path representative bows her head.
Unseen Path Sentinel says:' Since you were off handling business, I didn’t have the chance to introduce myself. My name is Emmarel Shadewarden–the leader of the Unseen Path. It’s good to see you return from your ordeal safely. I believe most of you have been acquainted with one of my companions, and some with the other.
Morra nods, and her eyes travel to Elissa with a fond smile.
Belysra Starbreeze says: My name is Belysra Starbreeze. Good to see you again, Tol’vas, and pleasure to meet the rest of you. I couldn’t perceive all of you, but it’s good to put some faces to names.
Remnii says: It’s nice to meet you. This will be one of many, but thank you for your help. These unfortunate odds are best faced together.
Belysra smiles.
Belysra Starbreeze says: That’s very true. Our people have made mistakes being misled, but thanks to the work you’ve done we can start correcting those errors. And thanks to my sister.
Morra Starbreeze says: I’m just glad that we’ve found answers to the many questions we’ve had. Now we can move towards a more permanent solution.
Elissa steps forward, wringing her hands. Morra smiles–the shortest of the trio of night elves–and Belysra also smiles.
Belysra Starbreeze says: Well go on, child, she’s not going to ask, trust me.
Morra shoots a look at Belysra, and Elissa promptly hugs her. Morra hugs her back in an introverted way.
Elissa Cross says: I’m glad to see you again, mom. I can call you that, right?
Morra Starbreeze says: You would honor me, Elissa.
Elissa releases the hug.
Elissa Cross says: Oh, sorry!
She unstraps the blade from her hip and offers it to her mother.
Elissa Cross says: Thank you for letting me borrow this. It protected me well!
She then also takes her holy symbol off.
Elissa Cross says: And here’s the symbol you lent Remnii!
Morra takes the items back, and she draws the blade–noticing the rune. She smiles.
Morra Starbreeze says: Well. I can’t take this back, Elissa.
Elissa Cross says: What do you mean?
Morra Starbreeze says: The blade has accepted you as its new holder. It seems it’s gotten tired of following me on clandestine missions. It is up to you to protect it from now on. Will you do this?
Elissa blinks.
Elissa Cross says: Are you sure? I don’t–
Morra Starbreeze says: Starflower has chosen you. It is not up to me. This is a decision you must make–if you would carry this legacy.
Elissa Cross says: Oh… okay. I’ll take good care of it.
Morra Starbreeze says: I believe it will take good care of you, Elissa. This, however, I will keep.
She wraps the holy symbol around her hand as Elissa takes the sword back.
Morra Starbreeze says: I hope it served you well.
Remnii says: It did. Thank you for letting me borrow it.
Belysra Starbreeze says: Morra, she is adorable. How could you not tell me you had a daughter?
Morra Starbreeze says: It… was a complicated situation.
Belysra Starbreeze says: Well, I am very glad to meet you! You can call me Aunt Bely if you want. I always wanted that.
Elissa Cross says: I’ve heard of you from Tol’vas. You’re very pretty!
Belysra Starbreeze says: Awww, thank you!
Elissa and Belysra chat for a moment while Emmarel address the rest.
Emmarel Shadewarden says: The rest of the representatives should arrive in the next two weeks. If things go according to plan, I hope we can assault Mount Hyjal and bring the creature to justice when the full moon is at its zenith. Our connection to Elune will be at its strongest, and her blessing will be with us. We’ll have to count on everyone arriving on time, but that should be more than possible. In the meantime, I hope you all can make preparations.
Tol'vas Moonshadow says: When will Fandral arrive?
Emmarel Shadewarden says: I don’t imagine the druids will be long.
Belysra Starbreeze says: And when he does, I would like to speak with him as well.
She grins.
Belysra Starbreeze says: You made the right choice in passing off the scythe. You had some opportunities, but I think it’s time for us to have a little conversation with him.
Tol'vas Moonshadow says: It’s not his to take.
Belysra Starbreeze says: Nor his burden to bear. But we have some time before we need to worry about that. It’s good to see you again in person, Tol’vas.
Tol'vas Moonshadow says: It’s been a few years, yes.
Belysra Starbreeze says: It has. It looks like your long rest treated you well. You look strong and healthy. Handsome. I hope you’re ready, for both what comes in two weeks and after that.
Tol’vas shrugs.
Tol'vas Moonshadow says: I suppose it doesn’t matter if I am or not, it’ll have to do.
Belysra Starbreeze says: That’s the spirit!
Belysra glances at Seria.
Belysra Starbreeze says: I wouldn’t mind getting to know you more–or all of you really–but you are a very talented druid. Though I’m not a druid myself, my beloved was one. I have a lot of experience with them. It’s not often that you get to see another druid as powerful as you are, especially outside the Cenarion Circle. I have my suspicions that they’ll like to speak to you too, but mine isn’t for business-it’s purely curiosity.
Tol'vas Moonshadow says: I also would like to speak with them just because they didn’t exist before.
Seria seems to freeze.
Belysra Starbreeze says: You are the troll girl, right? I assume you’re using magic to change your shape. Another impressive talent, by the way!
Seria nods stiffly. Emmarel looks at Elissa.
Emmarel Shadewarden says: Oh, and thank you for taking care of Snowfeather. She was very appreciative.
Elissa Cross says: Oh! I’m glad! She was very nice.
The trio of night elves head off to attend to their own business, and Elissa scampers after them so she could introduce them to her horse.
Remnii looks at Maraad with a soft sigh.
Remnii says: I thought after the third or fourth teleport out I would be less excited to come back, but I’m so excited to see everyone.
Her tail wags.
Maraad says: Wait until we return to the Exodar. Begin building a place where we are not relying on others for safety.
Remnii nods.
Remnii says: That is one of all of our greatest goals.
Remnii and Maraad go to report to Velen.
Vel goes to find some craftsman in search for a carpenter. There are human, draenei and furbolg carpenters, with some night elves on the way.
She has the portable hole out for measurements, and there’s a draenei looking it over.
Remnii sees this transpire.
Draenei Carpenter says: I think the furnishings would work well in there. We’ll have to be able to fit in this situation. But, curious as it is, it seems very interesting. I’m sure we can find someone who will help you out!
Velameestra Windrunner says: That would be appreciated.
Remnii says: Vel!
Vel stops and turns, like someone with her hand in the cookie jar. Remnii looks over Vel’s shoulder.
Remnii says: What are you doing?
Velameestra Windrunner says: Oh, Astalor gave me a portable hole that I’m getting outfitted with furnishing so I can sleep somewhere.
Remnii has sparkle eyes.
Remnii says: Question for you then. If you are furnishing it, that means that it will be a whole room, will it not?
Velameestra Windrunner says: A small apartment, I guess you can say, yes?
Remnii says: You should have told me! So tell me, what are you thinking?
Remnii looks battle serious.
Velameestra Windrunner says: Well starting with a means to hang clothes in the back… I apologize Remnii. You were busy. I did not realize this was…
Remnii says: Maybe it’s a vicarious dream. But, Vel. I love decorating!
Velameestra Windrunner says: Then your expertise will be most welcome.
Jarod Shadowsong says: Sorry to eavesdrop. But I heard you guys were back.
Jarod is looking better. There are still bandages on him.
Jarod Shadowsong says: Did you say you’re looking for a carpenter? Because I picked up a few skills in my exile. I actually built that house all by myself. It took a lot of trial and error. But if you need need some help I’d be glad to pitch in. They probably won’t let me start doing practice drills for a little bit, but I can probably let them convince me to pick up a saw or two.
Draenei Carpenter says: I would be more than happy to have your assistance Mr. Shadowsong.
Remnii says: I’m glad to see you’re up and moving!
Jarod Shadowsong says: This is the next step. I’ll hopefully be ready in the next few weeks. I want to be able to help. And this will be a good warm up.
Remnii smiles.
Remnii says: Well, I believe we have a team!
Velameestra Windrunner says: This... became a much larger undertaking then I was anticipating.
Remnii says: If it’s going to be a small apartment what were you going to do, have things on the floor??
Velameestra Windrunner says: Well I had plans for a chest in the back. I was planning on sleeping on the floor…
Remnii says: VEL!
Remnii puts a hand over her heart.
Remnii says: No. Absolutely not! We have been through enough, you deserve to sleep in a bed or whatever you need to do with yourself! As I know you have more specific needs in that sense!
Velameestra Windrunner says: I don’t think we need to go as far as a bed.
Remnii says: You need a bed.
Velameestra Windrunner says: Okay…
Remnii says: When you take your home anywhere, a bed is something you do not value until you do not have one anymore!
Velameestra Windrunner says: I generally prefer couches…
Jarod Shadowsong says: We could do a couch…
Remnii says: A futon!
Velameestra Windrunner says: What’s a futon?
Remnii says: You do not know what a futon is?
Jarod Shadowsong says: Is that a draenic word?
Remnii says: It is a couch that folds out into a bed!
Velameestra Windrunner says: Remnii this hole is only 6 foot wide.
Remnii says: A chair that folds into a cot!
Velameestra Windrunner says: …Okay.
Remnii says: May I go in?
Velameestra Windrunner says: Of course.
Remnii inspects the portable hole. From inside they can hear an “Oh my goodness!”
Vel ponders if she can just bring in the couch she has at her home.
Later that evening, one of the Rangari comes to find Remnii.
Rangari Scout says: Your companion’s party with scout Samaara have returned. They are descending now.
Remnii says: Perfect. Thank you very much!
Tol’vas materializes next to her.
Tol'vas Moonshadow says: Oh, they’re here? We should probably go then.
Rangari Scout says: The scouts watching the gorge saw them beginning to descend.
Remnii says: Excellent. If someone could procure them some food, I imagine the journey has been long.
Rangari Scout says: Of course, they were descending from the southern end.
Remnii and Tol’vas go to collect everyone to greet the returning party. As they head to the location, they see a figure plummet straight from the top. Two others follow shortly after. The first one seems to be a night elf man–he has a similar headband as Kor’vas and Illidan, but he has silken white hair. His jawline is sharp and a handsome silhouette, but it is also rugged. He smiles.
Kaldorei Illidari says: Haha! So this is the home base of you and your companions have been in!
Two more figures land behind him–Kor’vas and Illidan. Samaara seems to be climbing down like a normal person.
Kaldorei Illidari says: This will be an excellent place to plan our counterattack!
Illidan sighs.
Illidan Stormrage says: You know, leaping down without anyone to vouch for you isn’t the smartest idea, yes?
Kaldorei Illidari says: Of course, Lord Illidan! My mistake!
Kor'vas Bloodthorn says: Hey guys!
Remnii says: Welcome back.
Kaldorei Illidari says: And these must be your boon companions! We have pressing news to dispense to you. But where are my manners? Feronas Sindweller at your service! Veteran hunter of the Illidari and demon slayer!
Vel nods in greeting.
Remnii says: Welcome to Timbermaw Hold.
Kor'vas Bloodthorn says: I didn’t know he was out here, but he’s another member of the organization.
Remnii says: I have found you in strange places.
Feronas Sindweller says: Young Kor’vas and I were set on missions at similar times. I did not know she was in peril. But I understand we all have you and yours to thank for her release and Lord Illidan’s! We have uncovered an insidious truth!
Illidan looks tired.
Remnii says: Let us get comfortable and we can discuss. There is much to do. Time will be upon us shortly.
Feronas Sindweller says: Very well! It will be easier to inform your companions all at once!
Samaara says: Thank you for waiting, everyone.
Samaara had arrived on the ground. She looks at the demon hunters.
Kor'vas Bloodthorn says: Sorry. I didn’t want him to run off and get himself in trouble. Either one, really.
Samaara says: I wonder what that would feel like.
Remnii says: And I’m going to ignore that but say It’s good to see you, Samaara.
Samaara says: I wish it was better circumstances.
Remnii says: There is much to discuss.
Feronas Sindweller says: Indeed! You should know, we have uncovered undeniable evidence that my hypothesis is true. Somewhere on Kalimdor, a dreadlord acts in insidious ways. I was led to believe that your people have great knowledge on demons! I hope that your experience and our expertise, we can track down this insidious villain and put an end to it.
Velameestra Windrunner says: I believe we already found it, actually something to discuss.
Remnii says: We should leave it at that for now.
Feronas Sindweller says: You mean to tell me you already know? And that you’ve already discerned the creature’s whereabouts?
Velameestra Windrunner says: We’ve been very busy.
Remnii says: I’m afraid so.
Feronas Sindweller says: I see…
Feronas deflates and Kor’vas puts a hand on his shoulder.
Kor'vas Bloodthorn says: Don’t worry too much. We found other information. And we killed a lot of demons out there.
Remnii says: Your strength will be invaluable. And your passion for the cause.
Feronas Sindweller says: You… you… you are RIGHT!
Remnii bristles as he abruptly fist pumps into the air.
Feronas Sindweller says: This is great news! With your information, we can stop the fiend before he can bring anymore chaos and disorder to this land!
They start to head towards a briefing area and Vel walks next to Samaara.
Velameestra Windrunner says: If you need some coffee I can bring extra.
Samaara thinks for a long moment.
Samaara says: That… would be appreciated. It’s been a long journey.
Vel nods.
Velameestra Windrunner says: I’ll make extra.
Samaara gives Vel a look that says a thousand thanks.
The group begins to walk towards the meeting location.
Illidan Stormrage says: You said you learned about this dreadlord? What can you tell me?
The group looks around, and notices there are people.
Uther Menethil says: We should find somewhere more private to discuss this.
Illidan’s brow furrows.
Illidan Stormrage says: I assume the news is bad. But I’m not a child, you can tell me what you learned.
Remnii says: This is not about you, it is about the civilians here…
Tol'vas Moonshadow says: Very well…
Tol’vas walks over and whispers in his ear.
Tol'vas Moonshadow says: The dreadlord you discovered is wearing Tyrande’s body.
Tol’vas then takes a big step back as Illidan stops, and his fists clench.
Illidan Stormrage says: Did you discover this fiend’s identity? His name?
Velameestra Windrunner says: Tichondrius.
Illidan Stormrage says: Tichondrius… and what is being done?
Velameestra Windrunner says: People are assembling. We are going to be taking the fight to Mount Hyjal in two weeks.
Illidan Stormrage says: Then I suppose… I will have to stay my blades. But on that day, nothing will stop me from claiming vengeance against that monster… for what he’s done.
Velameestra Windrunner says: I doubt anyone will hold you back.
Uther Menethil says: Or get in your way.
Illidan Stormrage says: If you’ll excuse me… I have much to think about–
Tol'vas Moonshadow says: Of much much more minor consequence–
There is a roar, and they see Ash’alah sprinting directly towards Illidan–fangs bared. She pounces at him, and as Illidan starts to drop in a defensive stance they spiral together and Illidan disappears under the massive white tiger. She pins him down and roars in his face.
And then starts to lick his cheek.
Velameestra Windrunner says: That… is not how I expected that to go…
Uther Menethil says: I wouldn’t have known what to do if that didn’t transpire how it just did.
Illidan sputters and tries to shove Ash’alah off.
Illidan Stormrage says: Your point is well received, girl!
He pins Ash’alah’s face between his hands.
Illidan Stormrage says: We shall have our vengeance. Mark my words.
They make eye contact, and then Ash’alah curls up and sits on a disheveled Illidan. He’s stuck there for a moment.
Velameestra Windrunner says: Shall we save you a seat at the briefing?
Illidan Stormrage says: I will unearth myself from this beast eventually.
Tol'vas Moonshadow says: I think she was talking to Ash’alah.
Velameestra Windrunner says: No, I was talking to Illidan.
Tol'vas Moonshadow says: Well you should ask Ash’alah too then!
Illidan’s empty eyes close for a second, and he grins.
Illidan Stormrage says: I set myself up for that one.
Velameestra Windrunner says: Well I am going to go make coffee.
Feronas Sindweller says: Kor’vas, show me more of this place! I must know more of the forces we have at our command! And of the resources at our disposal.
Kor'vas Bloodthorn says: Yessir!
Velameestra Windrunner says: Sir Sindweller, do you do coffee?
Feronas Sindweller says: I don’t believe I’ve had this coffee before.
Kor'vas Bloodthorn says: It’s amazing!
Remnii says: Ohhhhh.
Kor'vas Bloodthorn says: You’re going to love it. It’s like a surge of energy in a drink!
Remnii and Tol’vas offer glances to Vel that say “You’ve made a mistake”
Feronas Sindweller says: Such a potent tincture at our disposal will surely turn the tides of battle! I would be honored to try this coffee, if you were willing to share.
Velameestra Windrunner says: I’ll make you a cup.
Kor'vas Bloodthorn says: Can I have some too?
Later, Samaara pulls Remnii aside.
Samaara says: I wanted to tell you something. I received word from Azgadaan. He and his people are safe. They returned to Draenor. I imagine he will contact you again soon. But apparently, by his own testimony, he has been able to channel the Holy Light. A strange circumstance given obvious natures…
Remnii’s eyebrows knit in consideration.
Remnii says: Interesting.
She smiles.
Remnii says: I’m glad to hear they are well. I have questions, but I’m sure twenty-five words or less are not conducive to answers… but thank you. I’m sure Draenor is a sight to see at the moment. I shall inquire about this some.
She seems thoughtful.
Remnii says: Thank you, it’s good to see you.
Samaara says: I’m glad you’re safe.
Remnii says: You too. I’m sorry to task you with such an energetic group.
Samaara says: My ears may still be ringing, but we did kill a great many demons. Their profession is not given lightly.
As the group convenes, it seems that Felwood was the center for a lot of corruption. The satyr sects in the area had been acting in a much more organized fashion, but they extracted information from one of the leaders and through them discovered they were reporting to a dreadlord. Feronas had been assigned to sabotage any demons in the area and find out what they were doing. Several demonic cults were culled.
Over the next two days, Vel creates the audiobook spell. And in the remaining time Vel goes to learn draenic from a number of people.
Remnii makes four sending stones over the next four days and attunes them to her own. Remnii gifts the seven pounds of hoof cream to Ishanah.
Ishanah says: Oh, you have a great deal of this! I will make sure we can distribute it. This is… a little bit pungent but I think it will come in handy.
Remnii says: A little bit of care in all of this is useful. Also! I have a manicure kit. Courtesy of a friend.
Remnii shows Ishana the eredar manicure kit.
Ishanah says: If it is creatable with local ingredients that will be very useful. Did you save some for yourself?
Remnii says: I’ve taken a scoop or two.
Vel also talks with Alleria via dream and tells her the Zalazane stuff has been handled and if she could get her in touch with the Grand Magister.
Alleria Windrunner says: So he’s been defeated? And your mother’s spirit is freed?
Velameestra Windrunner says: Yes. The hex is also gone.
Alleria Windrunner says: I’m very glad to hear that Vel. I’ll pass your message to the Grand Magister. He’ll contact you soon, probably.
Velameestra Windrunner says: Thank you, Alleria.
August 4th - August 9th
Vel continues to try to reach Victor by forcing her magic around the disturbance with Uther’s aid–alternating nights so that she could recover from the blow back of the attempts. Most of the time she had been jolting awake with a nosebleed or other signs of mental strain.
On the third try, Vel is trying very hard–moving her own magic against the grain of the leylines. She gets to the point she was at the last time, but this time she feels like she got there faster. She keeps trying to push and she gets a little bit closer and she feels the tug of Victor’s consciousness. Right before she connects, she feels his presence disappear–and she is whipped back and the waking world.
The next time she tries a few days later, Uther maintains the vigil. This time she knew she was even faster. She pushes and pushes through the storm that is the laws of creation like a salmon swimming upstream for a millennia and she throws her magic against the grain–harder and harder.
Then as if she came out of the other side of a waterfall, that pressure is gone. She’s finds herself in a sheer white plane with geometric shapes of magic rent from her own mind–images of orderly shapes broken like an unfinished dreamscape. The air around her is almost electric, crackling with burnt out magic.
On the other side of the strange scape is Victor.
Velameestra Windrunner says: Victor!
Vel starts to run at him, and she sees his face half-covered in scales with horns. He is shirtless with only trousers, his body half covered in scales. He is bewildered.
Victor Prestor says: Vel?
His voice echoes and repeats. The magic is starting to fray.
Velameestra Windrunner says: Shit. We’re alive, we’ll be back soon! I’ve been trying to reach you! It’ll be soon!
Victor Prestor says: What is going on-on on?
Velameestra Windrunner says: There’s a disturbance, we’re across the sea! We’ll be back soon!
Victor Prestor says: What is this? I can’t… hear? Don’t go, no!!
They run towards each other, but they cannot get any closer.
Victor Prestor says: I’m still waiting! I keep waiting!
The scape begins to fade and the dream ends.
Vel wakes and grabs Uther.
Velameestra Windrunner says: I saw him.
Uther Menethil says: You did? Were you able to speak with him?
Velameestra Windrunner says: The connection wasn’t perfect. But he saw me. He’s waiting.
Uther picks up Vel into a hug.
Uther Menethil says: It won’t be long now.
Vel hugs him back.
Uther Menethil says: Good job.
Velameestra Windrunner says: I couldn’t have done this without you.
A few days after the group had returned, they start to hear more excitement, and Tol’vas and Seria sense life magic. Suddenly, a gateway opens in the midst of the gorge–the unmistakable glow of the Emerald Dream coming from within.
Tol’vas immediately approaches, and the first entity to step through is a keeper of the grove. His hair is dark green and his skin is a blue-teal color. His arms are covered in vines, and there is a thin layer of moss covering his elken body. His antlers twist around in vines and bone. There is a gentle demeanor in his eyes. Tol’vas doesn’t recognize him, but Broll steps out after him, as do a number of other figures–fey and otherwise.
He then pieces together that Broll had mentioned he was coming with Keeper Remulos.
Tol'vas Moonshadow says: Keep Remulos.
Tol’vas bows, and Remulos looks him up and down.
Keeper Remulos says: You must be Tol’vas. I’ve heard much of you, child. Differing things depending on who you ask. I suppose I will have to choose which to believe.
He smiles softly.
Keeper Remulos says: We have come to aid. We have heard the cries of this land, and in my father’s absence I have come. We will do everything we can to aid all people of this world–to heal it from the pain and bring justice to those who have been wronged.
Several faerie dragons had scrambled out of the portal. Zen’tabra also exited out of the portal.
Zen'tabra says: Hm.
She claps her hands together.
Zen'tabra says: Nice place ya got here.
She sees Seria and squints–thinking she recognizes her in her elf form.
Zen'tabra says: I think we got the right place. Nice job, big guy.
She pats the flank of Keeper Remulos–who does not seem to care. Thalyss and Naralex also emerge from the portal. Lunara and several dryads are also there, and after them a very small dryad peeks out.
Young Dryad says: Are you sure it’s safe?
Lunara says: Come now, Mylune. These people fight for nature, not against it.
Mylune says: Okay. I’ll trust you…
She creeps out hesitantly, but then she sees the night sabers. She gasps.
Mylune says: What precious babies!
She bounds immediately to the cats and starts to talk to them and pet them. Lunara and the other dryads snicker, and Lunara recognizes those who had visited her before.
Lunara says: It has been some time, but I am glad we are able to come. We have come to do what we can to guard nature from the darkness–as is our charge.
Remnii says: Any and all help is appreciated. Thank you for being here. Welcome to Timbermaw Hold.
Lunara says: This is a nice place indeed. I’m sorry we were not able to aid sooner, but I am excited to see more action.
Keeper Remulos says: Come now, sister. We are here to heal.
Lunara says: Of course, brother, but any that would harm nature will taste our wrath. After all, sometimes the best way to heal is to excise poison from the veins.
Remulos nods, exasperated.
The last of the druids to step through includes the broad-shouldered Fandral Staghelm, the Scythe of Elune in his hand. However, it seems to have returned to dormancy. His daughter is with him, who is speaking with another night elf–however, her lavender-white hair has green horns piercing from it. Her eyes are keen, and seem to have a reptilian quality to it.
Fandral Staghelm says: Well, it seems you all have made quite a mess of things since our last conversation.
Tol’vas blinks, completely flabbergasted.
Tol'vas Moonshadow says: I’m sorry, a mess?
Fandral Staghelm says: Nonetheless, you’ve done well in discovering the truth of what the high priestess has allowed to happen. I am glad we are able to take measures to heal our civilization, and for that you have my gratitude.
Tol'vas Moonshadow says: …allowed?
He looks quite angry.
Fandral Staghelm says: And your part in this will look favorably on your own peculiar situation, Moonshadow. Once this situation is brought to its conclusion, I’m sure the rest of the archdruids and I can have a conversation about your fate.
Tol'vas Moonshadow says: Yes, I’m sure it will be a very productive conversation.
He holds his hand out for the scythe, and Fandral looks at it.
Fandral Staghelm says: What, do you want a handshake, Moonshadow?
Tol'vas Moonshadow says: No, I want the follow-through with our deal.
Fandral Staghelm says: Of course, as we discussed, I will hold the scythe until I discuss with the archdruids.
Belysra Starbreeze says: Actually, archdruid, if you would be so kind.
Belysra appears.
Belysra Starbreeze says: Belysra Starbreeze.
Fandral Staghelm says: I’m aware, Belysra Starbreeze, and your role in the creation of this aberrant artifact. Is there something you want to say?
Belysra Starbreeze says: Yes, actually. I was wondering on what authority you reclaimed that scythe?
Fandral Staghelm says: By my authority as Archdruid, and this druid’s jurisdiction falls under the Cenarion Circle–
Tol'vas Moonshadow says: Actually, I’m not a member of the Cenarion Circle.
Fandral Staghelm says: So you admit you are acting as an independent agent and you have no affiliation with the Cenarion Circle?
Tol'vas Moonshadow says: I haven’t been given the chance, have I?
Fandral Staghelm says: No, you haven’t, and perhaps once we discuss things with the archdruids we can decide that.
Belysra Starbreeze says: What about the last orders of Malfurion Stromrage?
Fandral Staghelm says: He is beyond our reach. In his absence, we must do what we can to safeguard the realm.
Belysra Starbreeze says: Pretty good point, yet I can’t help but notice that scythe isn’t at its full potential. But… when Tol’vas wielded it, you recall, yes?
Fandral Staghelm says: State your point.
Belysra Starbreeze says: We are facing an evil trying to wipe out our civilization. We have been almost blind. What I’m suggesting is that the scythe be returned to Tol’vas. We need every advantage we can get if we are going to face this, and that includes using our tools to their greatest potential. Not to mention… I was the one that created the scythe, as you so kindly reminded me. I understand its powers and dangers, but thank you very much for making sure I remember. It’s important to be reminded of those who are lost to us, and right now Archdruid Stormrage is on that number, and his last order was for it to be entrusted to the Priesthood of Elune. Velinde Starsong was last carrying it, and in her hands the scythe had been awakened to its full potential, yet she lost it all the same to a druid, from what I understand. Does it not stand to reason that it’s not safer in your hands than it was in her’s?
Fandral looks between Belysra and Tol’vas, and then at the scythe.
Fandral Staghelm says: You raise good points, Starbreeze. Tyrande’s negligence has caused a great deal of strife, and we need the help we can get–even from hedge druids.
Zen'tabra says: Come on, mon. We aren’t that bad!
Fandral glares at her, but then returns to the conversation.
Fandral Staghelm says: You may wield the scythe, but we will readdress this once this particular dilemma has been resolved, and once the rest of the circle convenes on your future–within it and without.
Belysra smiles.
Belysra Starbreeze says: That’s all we’re asking. Thank you very much for your understanding, Archdruid!
Fandral scowls and approaches Tol’vas.
Fandral Staghelm says: I’ve been led to believe that the battle of Mount Hyjal will be during the full moon, Moonshadow. I’ll be watching you closely, as will all of the Cenarion Circle. Should you fail–
He looks at Belysra.
Fandral Staghelm says: You two will bear responsibility for the consequences.
Belysra smiles again.
Belysra Starbreeze says: I’m sure that won’t be a problem, archdruid, but thank you for clarification nonetheless.
Tol'vas Moonshadow says: It’s unwise to underestimate people.
Fandral Staghelm says: I’m not underestimating anyone. I’ve lived far too long for that. I’m simply noticing both the forests and the trees, Moonshadow. Your history is not one that inspires confidence.
Illidan Stormrage says: So this is Fandral Staghelm.
Illidan strolls out.
Fandral Staghelm says: Ah. The Betrayer. You should be most lucky circumstances are as dire as they are, Betrayer. Or I would clap you back in chains and drag you back to the prisons myself.
Illidan Stormrage says: And deprive Maeiv of the privilege? You can certainly try. You know… no amount of grandstanding is going to make you into Malfurion Stormrage, right?
Fandral Staghelm says: I’m going to pretend I did not hear that, Betrayer. The forest has many eyes, and you’d best not try anything, or I will banish you back to the Nether as swiftly as I will the others that would defile our civilization.
Illidan Stormrage says: Is that a promise?
Fandral scoffs and walks away, his daughter following.
The disguised dragon behind them clears her throat.
Ariesera says: I did not wish to interrupt, but… I understand that you were the ones responsible for guiding Broll to us and uncovering this. On behalf of the green dragonflight, I extend my sincerest thanks. My name is Ariesera. I am sorry that more of my brethren will not be able to join us… there are dangers that they are currently handling. So. on behalf of my grandmother, the aspect Ysera, the Emerald Dream stands with you. If you’ll excuse me, I have some business to take care of.
Remnii says: You are welcome here, thank you.
Ariesera says: Thank you.
The dragon yawns and promptly covers her mouth.
Ariesera says: Sorry, it has been a long journey.
Before too long, another–green–saber joins the other slumbering cats.
Some other druids start to disperse, two of them stand out. One looks like a normal druid and the other has a lot of knives.
Kaldorei Druid says: Well sister we should find a way to be helpful. Perhaps your expertise in alchemy could come in handy.
Other Kaldorei Druid says: A wise plan, Aranna. Let us try and see if we can find them.
Aranna spills into a draenei that was coming around the corner. They promptly tumble over each other.
Kaldorei Druid says: Sister, watch where you’re going!
The draenei squints–glasses cast from her face.
Yaala says: Oh dear. Sorry about that!
She starts to pad around for her glasses.
Aranna Starseeker says: Are you looking for these?
She holds out a pair of glasses.
Yaala says: Yes, I am! Thank you so much! I cannot see without my glasses!
Aranna Starseeker says: Those things help you see?
Yaala says: Oh yes, my vision is terrible without them!
Aranna Starseeker says: May I see them for a moment?
Yaala says: Oh. Of course!
The younger of the two druids puts them on her face and blinks as she looks around.
Aranna Starseeker says: Elise, put these on!
Elise puts them on.
Elise Starseeker says: My word… everything is so much clearer. What are these?
Yaala says: Glasses. Those who cannot see well use them to see. Vision correction. You know how you can squint and see better? It’s that idea. Made of glass!
Elise Starseeker says: It has gotten more difficult to see... I attributed it to stress. May we learn more? There are others who have noticed as well. If that can help us, that may aid us a great deal.
Yaala says: Yeah, I’m sure we can make some if you don’t have any!
The group goes off, discussing the glasses.
Tol’vas had been using his connection with the thunder wolf he summoned and he managed to summon it once again. There is a small rumble of thunder, and in a shock of lightning and life magic the wolf manifests.
The wolf looks around and smells the air.
Thunder Wolf says [sylvan]: There are no enemies to fight.
Tol'vas Moonshadow says [sylvan]: I apologize. My message wasn’t clear. I was hoping to learn from you.
Thunder Wolf says [sylvan]: That is why I am puzzled. I’m not sure what I can teach you. I am a hunter. I am one of many. I live but I do not teach.
Tol'vas Moonshadow says [sylvan]: Your pack is different from ones I encountered before. So I wish to understand yours better.
Thunder Wolf says [sylvan]: Every pack has its differences. I can tell you, but… why do you want to know?
Tol'vas Moonshadow says [sylvan]: Xolotal’s words before I left… that your howls announce the storm. I searched and found a connection to thunder in the sky, and the lightning coursing through. It’s something I want to have a better understanding of.
Thunder Wolf says [sylvan]: I do not know much about the magics lifeweavers like yourself utilize, but if you simply seek to predict the weather, do you not have something that can do such?
Tol'vas Moonshadow says [sylvan]: Well… I suppose we could just hunt.
Tol’vas shifts into his wolf form.
Thunder Wolf says [sylvan]: That is something I know how to do. Perhaps we will find meaning, and perhaps you will find what truths you seek.
Tol'vas Moonshadow says [sylvan]: Wouldn’t be the first time.
The two head off into the woods to hunt. Whether he realizes it or not, there are times when the wolf helps Tol’vas divine answers to questions he didn’t even know he had. They repeat the hunts on several instances, and one time where, as they were hunting, Tol’vas gets an exceptionally bad feeling. Tol’vas voices the feeling, and the duo sticks to the shadows to watch. Lo and behold, they see storm clouds start to roll in. Something doesn’t seem right, so they head back. The rain sinks into their fur, and it actually burns.
Acid rain had happened in the Felwood since it became corrupted. The warnings that Tol’vas was able to give was able to give the scouts enough time to protect their equipment. After the wolf leaves, Tol’vas lingers on that feeling he had and remembers it. He doesn’t feel it again, but he remembers it.
Zen’tabra had found Seria shortly after she got back.
Zen'tabra says: Seria, come here and give me a hug. Sorry it took so long, I had to harass Naralex a bit!
Seria goes and hugs her.
Zen'tabra says: You look good! I be surprised you figured out how to do this so quick. You make a cute elf, you know. Not a bad plan. Got more than a few bad looks from the humans. But, if you compliment them they get flustered and walk away. You should try it, it’s funny. Their slings and arrows won’t help them, and we’re on the same side here.
Seria says: I only did this because they started things.
Zen'tabra says: Smart idea. Avoidin’ conflict be good. There’s enough things in this world that tries to kill ya. But I get the sense you’ve been busy. I see it all over ya.
Seria says: We went back to the Isles while you were gone.
Zen'tabra says: Did ya figure out more about that Zalazane thing?
Seria nods.
Seria says: He’s no longer an issue.
Zen'tabra says: Ah! So I missed it? Damn. I really think I would have liked to be a part of that, but in a way I guess I was, wasn’t it?
Zen’tabra winks at her, and Seria is quiet for a long moment.
Seria says: He had my mada’s soul…
Zen'tabra says: Had? So you reversed that fortune?
Seria nods.
Zen'tabra says: And Kala? She be alright now?
Seria says: She’s back on De Other Side with a lot of other people.
Zen'tabra says: Good. That be teachin’ Zalazane to mess with my pupils, ya?
Zen’tabra cups Seria’s face in her hands.
Zen'tabra says: You alright? I can’t imagine somethin’ like that was easy.
Seria says: While she was under his control she ran for me... I… I’m not sure she meant what she said or if it was from Zalazane, but… she said I abandoned her and left her.
Zen'tabra says: Ohhhh, sweet thing.
Zen’tabra hugs Seria tightly and strokes her hair.
Zen'tabra says: No no no. Kala would never say that to you. Everything she said and did, that was all Zalazane. He twisted them. Made them do things they didn’t want to. No no no. I knew it for certain, with all my heart, that she was nothin’ but proud of you. Standin’ up against her and bringin’ this mess to an end. You know why I know that?
Seria looks up at Zen’tabra.
Zen'tabra says: Because I’m proud of you too. Kala was a good listener and a good learner, and I know her. So don’t you be thinkin’ anything like that. I know Kala be lookin’ over you right now from the other side.
Seria says: That’s exactly what she said.
Zen'tabra says: Told ya! I bet she’s sayin’ you’re so silly thinkin’ somethin’ like that. She be sayin’ she’s so happy you’re speakin’ with her shan’do as she’s the prettiest and smartest troll there is! And she also probably be thinkin’ her shan’do get off her lazy ass and not let her Seria pass her up when she’s not lookin’!
Seria says: I’m not so sure about that.
Zen’tabra smiles.
Zen'tabra says: I don’t know either, and that’s lit a fire in me soul, Seria. I be learnin’ just as much about meself from you as I do from me. All of my experiences… and still you come in here and make me question everythin’. Introduce me to people I couldn’t dream of speakin’ to otherwise! By the loa, I had a chance to drinks and tell tales with a bunch of dryads! They drank enough lotus wine that they named me an honorary dryad! Ain’t nothin’ happened before I met ya. I just got chased by crazy dragons and got into trouble I’d rather not speak about. But you got a spark in ya, Seria. But I think I could use that spark if you’re not doin’ nothin’. There’s someone I want ya to meet. An old friend that wants to help us with this battle.
Seria says: Oh?
Zen'tabra says: They be on their way. It’ll be easier to meet them halfway. Plus it’ll give ya time to get to know them. So. Ya in?
Seria nods.
Zen'tabra says: Alright. Then follow me!
Zen’tabra transforms into a large spider and skitters away with Seria in tow. They travel for about half the day through the underground, and eventually she transforms out of her spider form to investigate the area. There are signs of travel and primitive markings in druidic.
Zen'tabra says: Here they are. Looks like he came this way. We should be able to find him.
Seria continues to follow her for about another half hour. Seria detects the presence of large figures in the shadows, and the shimmering of eyes watching them. An axe comes sailing through, and Zen’tabra jumps out of the way–the axe burying itself in the ground.
Zen'tabra says: Oh! Relax mon! It be me, not your next dinner!
As Seria looks around, the formless shapes emerge–revealing a half dozen dark trolls. All of them are wielding javelins and hand axes.
Dark Troll says: She be the one.
One more figure steps out. They are lightly garbed with hides, and have light-reflecting paint on their arms. They seem to be shorter than the dark trolls, but he is still taller than Seria. He has gun metal gray hair, and Zen’tabra ignites a small magical light. All the dark trolls squint away the light, and as Seria gets a better look at the figure, it seems he’s a half-troll. However, he’s half night elf and half dark troll.
He also seems to be a druid.
Half-Troll says: Shan’do. Is ‘dis…?
Zen'tabra says: This be the one I be talkin’ about! Seria, this be Jen’zak. He be another one of my students. This is Seria. She be Kala’s child.
Jen'zak says: Kala. First student?
Zen'tabra says: That’s right!
Jen’zak looks at Seria, who transforms out of her own spider form. He scowls at Seria, his bright amber eyes taking her, and he squints and squats down. He’s about 9 feet tall at his full height.
Jen'zak says: I be Jen’zak. Leader of ‘dis group. It is good to meet you.
Seria says: Likewise.
Jen'zak says: I too am student. I look forward to learnin’ with and from you, daughter of Kala–great student.
He holds his hand out, and Seria looks over at Zen’tabra for confirmation–who just gestures for her to go on. Seria extends her hand out, and Jen’zak clasps it gently before standing back up.
Jen'zak says: You are fightin’ with the light ones? They are at Timbermaw.
Seria says: Yes.
Jen'zak says: We help them once. We help them again. The forests and everythin’ that lives above and below. With two students of shan’do Zen’tabra, we will triumph.
Zen'tabra says: What can I say? I know a thing or two. Not to mention these warriors of yours… if I wasn’t a bit quicker they would have turned me into spider stew!
There is the sound of stomachs grumbling.
Dark Troll says: Spider stew sound good. Maybe later.
Zen'tabra says: lets head back! I think a half dozen dark troll warriors be worth somethin’, eh?
Seria says: Yeah.
Jen’zak looks at Seria with a nod.
Jen'zak says: We go.
The group starts to head off and Jen’zak transforms into a large crocolisk that seems to be well-adapted to moving underground.
Maraad is the first one to see the giants emerge from the underground later that night.
Maraad says: So that was where you went! It is good to see you again! I did not expect to see you here. How did you find out we were gathering?
Jen'zak says: Shan’do told us. We be fightin’ with the bearers of light again.
Maraad says: I’d sure everyone will be glad to see you. A half dozen of your warriors are worth a couple dozen of some others. Make yourself comfortable! We have food and water!
Dark Troll says: You be havin’ spider stew?
Maraad says: I don’t know if we have spider stew, but we could probably get some.
The dark troll smiles.
Dark Troll says: This was a good idea.
The dark trolls seem to be a bit bashful and the brighter lights seem to be a lot, especially the Naaru.
Seria tells Zen’tabra the news about Zulfli, but does notably not tell her about Zuni.
Vel finds Riff, who is not playing with the other kids anymore. He’s hanging out with the demon hunters.
Velameestra Windrunner says: Hey Riff.
Riff says: Hiya Vel.
Velameestra Windrunner says: I just wanted to check in with you. I assume your mother did already.
Riff says: She did. I’m trying to talk without the accent. We gotta talk like elves so we don’t start any more fights. But it is hard.
Velameestra Windrunner says: I can imagine. Trying the troll accent is hard.
Riff says: It’s all I heard! But it’s something to do at least.
Vel notices that the forms that Riff is taking are a few inches taller then the ones he previously took.
Velameestra Windrunner says: Did you grow over the last couple of days?
Riff says: Yeah! I just thought it would fit more. I can kinda look like whatever I want. And I don’t want to play with the kids anymore.
Velameestra Windrunner says: Not even the draenei?
Riff says: They’re alright. But. I don’t want to accidentally hurt them.
Velameestra Windrunner says: Why would you accidentally hurt them?
Riff shrugs.
Riff says: I dunno.
Velameestra Windrunner says: You’re obviously not going to bite them. And they probably miss you.
Riff says: I think it’s just weird. Seeing all the things I saw and doing all the things we do, and just going back and playing.
Velameestra Windrunner says: It seems too simple?
Riff nods.
Velameestra Windrunner says: So what have you been doing in the meanwhile?
Riff says: I’ve been trying to learn. Kor’vas is really fun. Elissa is painting stuff, she’s working on some really good stuff this time.
Velameestra Windrunner says: I’ll have to check and see. And have you and Kor’vas raced yet?
Riff: That will be fun! Maybe I’ll see if she wants to do that.
Velameestra Windrunner says: I think she’ll like that too. Not many people can keep up with her. Feronas maybe can.
Riff says: He’s pretty fun too. He’s loud but he’s fun.
Velameestra Windrunner says: He is very loud. And in hindsight introducing him to coffee may have been a mistake.
Riff says: I don’t know why people like it. It doesn’t taste very good.
Velameestra Windrunner says: You can make it taste good. But, are you feeling alright?
Riff says: Um. I don’t know... Things are weird. I want to help madda. But each time I try I screw something up. I think a part of all of this is when I was at the Echo Isles, I was with some of the kids and they played a game. I didn’t really think about it at the time. It was kind of like tag, but whoever was “it” they had the blood curse. If you got tag, you would pretend to die and all that. But that’s Hakkar’s. I don’t know where I fit into all this. All of them saw it as a game. But I don’t even know what I am.
Velameestra Windrunner says: But you know what the advantage to that is though? You can be whatever you want to be. So what do you want to be?
Riff says: I want to be? I think I want to be someone Seria can be proud of. I want to be Riff. I want to be Death Adder!
Velameestra Windrunner says: Then I think then, kiddo, you know exactly who you are. Cause I think you’re all of those things right now.
Riff says: You really think do?
Velameestra Windrunner says: You’re the one that made the Death Adders. I think your mother is very proud of you. And you are Riff.
Riff’s lip quivers and he gives Vel a hug, which Vel returns.
Velameestra Windrunner says: I think we should find Kor’vas and see if she’s interested in a race.
Riff says: That’s a good idea. Do you want to race too?
Velameestra Windrunner says: I don’t know if I can keep up with the pair of you, but I’ll try.
Riff says: I’d like that too!
Velameestra Windrunner says: Alright.
Riff says: I wasn’t crying, by the way. Just had something in my eye.
Velameestra Windrunner says: Of course. Sometimes blood gets in there.
Riff says: Yeah! And the light’s really bright.
Velameestra Windrunner says: The light is annoyingly bright.
They go off to find Kor’vas.
Tol’vas finds Belysra hanging out with Elissa while her niece paints–admiring all the different paintings Elissa had already finished.
Elissa Cross says: Oh hey, Tol’vas!
Belysra Starbreeze says: I’m glad we were able to get the scythe back.
Tol'vas Moonshadow says: Thank you for that.
Belysra Starbreeze says: No thanks needed.
Tol'vas Moonshadow says: No, I’m sure he would have outsmarted me.
Belysra Starbreeze says: Well, I know a thing or two about that. He wants to hear what he wants to hear. And if he hears anything else, he’s going to bristle up. Really, he’s kind of the exact opposite of Furion. But, for now, we got you settled, and in case you didn’t realize, he’s not getting it back. We need that, so respectfully the archdruid will need to make do.
Tol'vas Moonshadow says: There was something else I wanted to talk to you.
Belysra Starbreeze says: Sure. You keep working, Elissa, I want to see what you got!
Elissa Cross says: Right away, aunt Bely! Thanks, by the way.
Morra nods at Tol’vas, and Elissa starts to talk to her mom as she also looks at the paintings.
Belysra Starbreeze says: Something on your mind?
Tol'vas Moonshadow says: Yeah, sorry to interrupt your… reunion isn’t the right word. Meeting?
Belysra Starbreeze says: Something like that. There will be time. But something’s on your mind.
Tol'vas Moonshadow says: Part of what you said to Staghelm was using the scythe to its full potential, but it’s still not, and I don’t know how I got it this far even.
Belysra Starbreeze says: The scythe resonates with whoever wields it. It has a mind of its own, in a sense. Perhaps it’s an echoing remnant of Goldrinn’s might, or it’s a blessing from Elune herself. What I do know is… getting it this far is saying something. One reason or another, the scythe has chosen you to wield it. Perhaps it’s because you cared for Goldrinn so much. Maybe it respects and recognizes that, and sees what you’ve done so far.
Tol'vas Moonshadow says: Were you watching when it changed?
Belysra Starbreeze says: I was, by a stroke of luck. It responded to you helping… someone. I couldn’t see them. They were shielded. I presume it was another who carried the curse.
Tol'vas Moonshadow says: It was. Someone I accidentally cursed.
Belysra Starbreeze says: So someone you took responsibility over.
Tol'vas Moonshadow says: I was responsible for it.
Belysra Starbreeze says: Well it wasn’t the only thing. Maybe that’s a clue. Now that Alpha Prime is back, we’re going to need to confront him.
Tol'vas Moonshadow says: He needs to be stopped. Elune only knows how many people he’s turned or killed…
Belysra Starbreeze says: In a way, every person he’s killed, every person he’s spread Goldrinn’s touch to, every life has ended at the claws and fangs of the worgen… is our responsibility. But his vision for the future of the kaldorei and of Goldrinn’s legacy isn’t exactly aligned to what you and I want.
Tol'vas Moonshadow says: No, all he wanted was the power from it.
Belysra Starbreeze says: Then perhaps that’s the answer. If we continue to follow this path, I have no doubt the scythe will make its will known. And if it chooses to grant us the blessing and awaken to its full potential, I have a feeling you’ll be the one to do it. And I’m going to be with you, whether you like it or not, because it’s my responsibility too. Aravel would want nothing less.
Tol'vas Moonshadow says: Certainly would not have wanted what happened.
Belysra Starbreeze says: It’ll be an interesting homecoming. Going back to where it all began. Back across the ocean.
Tol'vas Moonshadow says: Strange to think an entire kingdom of other people live there now.
Belysra Starbreeze says: I never met a human before now. I heard about them. I just hope that Alpha Prime hasn’t caused too much chaos, and for that which he has… well at least you’ve been able to gather more than a few friends. We’ll figure something out.
Tol'vas Moonshadow says: We’ll just have to work together.
Belysra holds her hand out.
Belysra Starbreeze says: Sounds like a plan to me.
Tol’vas grasps her hand.
The last few days, Remnii has chased Vel off from the hole while the “Hole Council” decorates.
Eventually, as Vel is working on one of her projects, she feels something impending as Remnii approaches.
Remnii says: Vel!
Velameestra Windrunner says: Remnii?
Remnii says: It’s done!
Velameestra Windrunner says: I’m allowed to see it now?
Remnii says: Yes!
Remnii is excited.
Velameestra Windrunner says: Alright…
Vel follows Remnii, perplexed by her mood. Remnii looks like she’s going to say something but turns around.
Remnii says: In truth, I thought about pulling out all the stops and putting on a blindfold and pulling you here. But that’s just not your speed. I’m just excited! By the hard work of everyone here, I will present to you, your hole! There’s no better way to say that in common… by the way.
Velameestra Windrunner says: It is by definition a hole.
Remnii says: Your hole in the wall?
Velameestra Windrunner says: My hole in the wall.
Jarod Shadowsong says: It was tough but I think we made it work.
Walking into the small space she can see a nook cut out of the wall, with shelving and drawers surrounding it. There are some pillows, not too plush, decorating the nook. There is a repurposed ship’s cot for her to sleep in.
Velameestra Windrunner says: I… wow.
Jarod beams with pride.
There is silence as Vel sits on the cot.
Remnii says: Honestly Jarod did most of the hard work I just pointed to things.
Jarod Shadowsong says: Don’t sell yourself short Remnii. You pretty much came up with this whole idea.
Remnii says: But you and Carpentos brought it to fruition!
Carpentos says: I just put pieces of wood together. I could have done nothing without Jarod’s craftsmanship.
Maraad says: Alright, I think we understand. You are all both humble and talented. But I believe all of you came together to make this happen.
Velameestra Windrunner says: I honestly don’t… words are failing.
Remnii says: May I? A home is important, Vel. And you do much for other people. You spend a lot of time not thinking of just yourself. And that does not go beyond my notice. And if you let people, just sometimes perhaps, if you meet the needs of others your needs can also be met. You deserve a place to relax that’s not on the floor.
Remnii takes a step back to allow Vel to see the room. There is a long moment of silence as Vel takes everything in. There’s a hand that goes to her eyes to stop the tears.
Velameestra Windrunner says: Thank you. I think that’s all I can really say is thank you. All of you.
Remnii looks back at the team and back to Vel.
Remnii says: That’s all you really need to say, but I hope you find it to your liking.
Velameestra Windrunner says: I do.
Vel approaches Remnii to touch foreheads. Remnii’s tail flicks content.
Remnii says: We will leave you to it!
Carpentos says: Good work team!
Carpentos raises his hand to Jarod.
Jarod Shadowsong says: What?
Carpentos says: I saw the humans do it. It is called a high five.
Remnii says: I love those!
Jarod Shadowsong says: Sure.
Jarod gives Carpentos a high five.
Vel gives everyone a stunned look of gratitude between adding things to her hole. After some time, Vel finds Remnii again.
Velameestra Windrunner says: How much do I owe you for that?
Remnii says: Do you remember that time you made me keep my money?
Velameestra Windrunner says: Oh this is payback for that?
Remnii winks.
Velameestra Windrunner says: Thank you…
Remnii says: You deserve it.
Vel goes back to the hole to maybe cry a little bit. Remnii goes to craft other things.
---
The group from Azuremyst Isle arrives a few days after the group of druids arrives. Samaara finds Remnii.
Samaara says: Remnii. A group from the Azuremyst Isle has arrived. Including…
Realization dawns on Remnii’s face.
Samaara says: Would you come with me?
Without a second thought, Remnii nods–somber.
Remnii says: Of course I will. You are my sister.
There is a small exhale of relief, and Samaara squeezes Remnii’s hand before they head to meet the draenic reinforcements. They see Luma heading back to the artificers, and then they see Exarch Naielle. Her eyes fall on Samaara. Samaara immediately drops into a salute.
Samaara says: Exarch Naielle, it’s a pleasure to see you safe and healthy after the Exodar’s crash. Agent Samaara reporting for duty.
There is a long silence.
Exarch Naielle says: You’ve been through a lot. That much is obvious.
Samaara winces.
Samaara says: I would have sent it forward with my report, but I… I did not know what to say. I’m sorry for hiding it from you. I assure you, it was not my intention and it will not impact my service–
Exarch Naielle says: At ease, Samaara.
Samaara promptly drops the salute.
Exarch Naielle says: Can you still bend a bow?
Samaara says: Yes ma’am.
Exarch Naielle says: Can you still track?
Samaara says: Of course, ma’am.
Exarch Naielle says: Then there will always be a place for you in the Rangari. For as long as you wish to serve, you misunderstand me, Samaara, if you believe I would allow a woman of such talent to leave because of scars. I’m glad that you’re safe.
Samaara nods.
Samaara says: Thank you. Truly.
Exarch Naielle says: You have nothing to thank me for, Samaara. You’re here by your own strength, and that of those that walk by your side. Now, we will hunt together.
Samaara nods.
Samaara says: Yes ma’am.
Samaara smiles in relief, seemingly near tears.
Remnii nods at Naielle.
Remnii says: I would like to commend Agent Samaara. She was vital on Draenor. In not only my return, but even in letting the pending assault begin… it would have not been possible without her. She has my highest commendations.
Exarch Naielle says: Considering you are the ambassador, Remnii, your words mean much. I would be foolish to ignore such a commendation, wouldn’t you agree… captain?
She looks at Samaara.
Samaara says: You honor me, both of you. I will not let you down.
Remnii says: It’s been an honor to have you at my side.
Naielle smiles, and she goes to report to the others. After Naielle leaves, Samaara moves to hug Remnii–which is obviously returned.
A voice, in common, draws their attention.
Soft Voice says: Excuse me, I’m sorry to have eavesdropped.
It’s a night elf woman. She seems familiar.
Night Elf Woman says: They said your name was Remnii?
Remnii cocks her head.
Remnii says: Yes. That’s my name.
Night Elf Woman says: Then I think you’re the one I’m looking for.
Remnii says: What can I help you with?
Night Elf Woman says: I wanted to thank you. You and your friends were responsible for saving my life.
She was the priestess that was near death at the Azure Watch.
Remnii says: Oh! How are you feeling now?
Minai Foreststar says: I’m walking. I’m breathing. All better than I could have said.
Remnii says: It is good to see you in convalescence.
Minai Foreststar says: I don’t think… I heard what happened with the high priestess. I wish I could help, but I do not believe I will be able to do so. But Elune’s blessing is with me. I would like to help. Would you be able to gather those who were with you?
Remnii says: Of course.
Remnii goes and gathers the group that had ventured to Azuremyst, and they also see the priestess that was on death’s door. She is quite pale, but she’s alive.
Minai Foreststar says: First off, hello. I wanted to thank all of you. I was the priestess you helped save.
Velameestra Windrunner says: Minai Foreststar.
She nods.
Minai Foreststar says: I don’t know how you found my name… but they said it when I regained consciousness.
Uther Menethil says: Glad to see you are up and walking.
Minai Foreststar says: I am too. I could think of nothing but how I had failed my people… that I would die alone. Remnii, your people found me, despite everything my people did to yours. I cannot help but feel immeasurable gift for my party in it, yet your people and you strangers made sure I had a fighting chance. By Elune, I don’t plan on squandering that opportunity.
Remnii says: When times are darkest, that is the time we should light the way for each other. It is a misunderstanding, but so many of us get caught in the crossfire. I do not believe, for a moment, that you are anything but where you are meant to be.
Minai Foreststar says: I agree. And to that end, I want to give you all something.
She reaches to her side and pulls out a small cloth–withdrawing a simple necklace. There is a beautiful disc of jade or malachite at the center. Within the disc is a beautiful half-crescent moon.
Minai Foreststar says: This was a gift I was given a long time ago. Were I fit to fight, perhaps I could use it, but with the life you have given me, I would see it to you, so you might use it and assuage some small amount of suffering. Though the Light that your people channel is different from my goddess, the warmth that comes with it should be bolstered by its blessing all the same.
Remnii nods and takes the necklace.
Remnii says: It’s beautiful. Thank you.
Minai Foreststar says: I’ll cheer for you from the sidelines, and I will do anything I can to help any of you should you become injured, but I hope that does not happen.
Remnii says: We need all the help we can get. Priestesses of Light and Moonlight are in high demand.
Minai Foreststar says: Thank you again.
The woman bows very deeply and strides away to make herself useful.
The amulet is warm and refreshingly cool to the touch. There is a blessed enchantment on it, which Vel promptly identifies. It’s an amulet of the devoted healer. Vel folds the necklace back into Remnii’s hands.
Velameestra Windrunner says: I believe this belongs to you.
Vel finds Uther building rapport with the sailors and his grandfather. He seems to be doing pretty well and is very popular. He knows a lot of jokes that the sailors would find funny.
Velameestra Windrunner says: Uther, there you are. Apologies if I’m interrupting. A moment?
Uther Menethil says: Vel, yes! Of course. Back in a moment, mates!
Velameestra Windrunner says: Sorry, if you were busy…
Uther Menethil says: I’ve always got time for you Vel.
Velameestra Windrunner says: I just wanted to ask for some clarification on some things. That prophecy that Remnii told us about, did she talk to you about it any further?
Uther Menethil says: She hasn’t mentioned anything about it.
Velameestra Windrunner says: Alright, I guess I just wanted to ask. What if people don’t work together in the future?
Uther Menethil says: Well. Then I suppose the Legion renders our world a broken and cracked pile of ash and bones.
Velameestra Windrunner says: Uther, that’s what I’m worried about. What you told the Keeper in the Barrowdeeps. He… this platform. Prophecies are not concrete if they’re anything like any divination magic. The moment you know the outcome you can change the outcome. That’s why divination magic intrinsically has its problems because they think that they- I’m rambling. But. What I’m concerned about is working towards this, just directly, there’s a lot of people that have hurt a lot of people. And it’s not going to be as easy as putting it all aside. It’s creating a narrative that the moment someone says no, they’re suddenly the villain of the entire story. Considering what happened to my people, do you understand why I’m concerned?
Uther Menethil says: I do. Do you know why I’m not?
Velameestra Windrunner says: Explain.
Uther Menethil says: Vel, I just witnessed you break so many laws of magic that you taught me for the sake of contacting our friend. What you did with a minimal amount of help from me was something that anyone that taught you magic would have dismissed as being impossible.
Velameestra Windrunner says: I’m not sure I’m following what that has to do with politics.
Uther Menethil says: You were able to do that, Vel, because simply put you’re the best at what you do. And so am I. I don’t care how wide or how treacherous a gap may be, but I will build that bridge. It won’t be easy, it won’t be quick. It will take a tremendous amount of time and effort.
Velameestra Windrunner says: And what if we don’t have that time?
Uther Menethil says: Then I’ll have to spend more effort.
Velameestra Windrunner says: Uther. You are good at what you do. But things are... different. Most of the things we have been dealing with are personal. It’s not as easy as telling someone- like what you told me with Rai. Obviously I was going to put that aside for Arator. But based on just the words of some prophecy people are not going to just listen. I just think before this entire platform is developed, we should talk to Remnii more about what it involves. Because if this is involving an alliance with orcs just because of this vision, there are going to people that are not going to listen to you. Or trolls for that matter. The Amani slaughtered the entire family of the man that is now leading my people. I have a hard time believing this is the only way to approach it. Because the moment someone says no, they’re the reason everything failed.
Uther Menethil says: If someone says no, then I will find a compromise. But do you know why I’m good at what I do?
Velameestra Windrunner says: Because you’re stubborn.
Uther Menethil says: That helps. It’s because I understand what love is. And not a specific kind of love. But pure love. And everyone has something that they love- at least one thing. And if you listen, whether they mean to or not, they’ll tell you what that is. And ultimately an alliance born of shared interest and survival is something short lived. I’m not interested in creating something that once the Legion is dealt with we’re back at each other’s throats.
Velameestra Windrunner says: Have you talked to Remnii about any of this?
Uther Menethil says: Not yet. And I have no problems discussing the prophecy further with her.
Velameestra Windrunner says: I think we should talk to Remnii about what this entails. Before we build an entire plan based on something we don’t have all the pieces of. I trust you Uther. But I’m also just worried.
Uther Menethil says: I know. And I know there’s nothing I can say to assuage your fears.
Velameestra Windrunner says: By nature I’m someone who sees the chance of failure so we can plan against it.
Uther Menethil says: That’s why we work together so well.
Velameestra Windrunner says: Yes but I’m only one person. Lets go find Remnii, now.
Uther Menethil says: She can’t be far.
