December 18th

Azgadaan messages Halno and asks him if he made any progress on the healing potions he had asked him to make, of which, Halno had made no progress. Azgadaan goes and buys some potions on Quel’danas to cover their bases at least a bit if Halno is unable to make much progress on the way over to the mainland. He also picks up a potion of speed.

Arthak swung by Runesight’s abode and handed over 400gp for the passwall spell. He then goes to meet with Shaspira, and waits for her return as she was not present upon his arrival.

Shaspira gestures for Arthak to follow her into her office as she arrives.

Shaspira says: Arthak, ‘tis a pleasure. Apologies for not being more attentive. I’ve been busy.
Arthak Saurfang says: No trouble, lady Shaspira. We all have work to do.
Shaspira says: So it seems. You’ve still been hard at work trying to enter the Goldensword manor?
Arthak Saurfang says: Correct. The last pieces have fallen into place. I’m to return to the mainland and coordinate the final few stages.
'Shaspira says: Good. I reiterate that if you find anything of interest, I’ll gladly compensate you. Monetarily, with a trade, or something a bit less tangible if that’s what you prefer. But I leave that to your discretion, of course.
Arthak Saurfang says: We will see what we find. Unfortunately intelligence was sparse. But that is not why I came to call upon you.
Shaspira says: What brings you here, my young friend?
Arthak Saurfang says: Similar topic when we were discussing the possibility of my becoming the warchief’s bodyguard. Um. Again, it is a possibility that when the ban’dinoriel falls... I’ve been given some insight as to what my responsibilities may be if my uncle’s intelligence is correct. I may be assigned to stay here and guard Quel’danas.
Shaspira says: I see. I take it that was not what you were hoping to hear?
Arthak Saurfang says: I am flexible, but before I make a move either to accept such orders or circumvent them, I felt it appropriate to consult with you.

Shaspira cocks her head slightly to the side, and she smiles.

Shaspira says: If you’re concerned of retribution from my standpoint, Arthak. You need not be.
Arthak Saurfang says: Retribution is not my concern. Seeing what positions I could be in that would be advantageous to you. I would not lie and say it’s the only factor to move forward, but it’s significant. If I can be more useful elsewhere, it’s incentive to move.
Shaspira says: At present, until the barrier drops, there is little I can accomplish on this world. But in time, there will be something. There are many reasons for the Legion’s interest in Azeroth. Many reasons that we have opened the pathway for the orcs’ conquest here. In time, it will be time to move on those very things that drew us here. For without securing them, or dealing with them, no amount of reinforcements, no amount of conquest, will result in a victory for the Horde.
Arthak Saurfang says: I see.
Shaspira says: but in time, I do hope to secure additional… resources for the Horde to utilize.
Arthak Saurfang says: Every asset will be necessary. We are taking an entire world.
Shaspira says: And we have much to offer you. Securing them and bringing them here is a challenge, but one I’ve been working on
Arthak Saurfang says: Well, at least at present, whether I am at the frontlines or here at Quel’danas is not a significant factor.
Shaspira says: Not directly, no. There are benefits to both. The frontlines will lead to glory, a currency in itself. On the other hand, this is our foothold in the world. It’s defense is as vital as anything else.
Arthak Saurfang says: As well… time away from inconvenient attention could be useful. Time to build the clan. Ready ourselves for our time for glory.
Shaspira says: Precisely. And when that moment comes, I am curious to see if you will be able to stand for the glory you seek, and what glory it will be. I’ve read histories of thousands of heroes over the years. Some went on to lead lives of greatness. Shaped worlds. While others… never got to see that part. They were betrayed by their followers. Greed and jealousy are power. Or perhaps they became too consumed with their own pride and glory that they noticed not the walls crumbling around them. But almost all of them have one thing in common, Arthak. They never saw long lives. Rarely do heroes, as it is. Glory is a currency like any other, but greed for it, well, that is perhaps more dangerous than most are willing to admit.
Arthak Saurfang says: I take your warning with thanks.

Shaspira nods.

Arthak Saurfang says: It echoes some of my own considerations. But. It’s good to hear echoes sometimes. Thank you. That is all I wished to discuss, and I would not waste any more of your time.
Shaspira says: You need not worry about that. There’s a saying that the elves and humans of this world hold. Great minds think alike, but fools rarely differ. Fitting. But I do have one question for you.
Arthak Saurfang says: By all means.
Shaspira says: It’s in regards to the clandestine mission being undertaken by Garrosh Hellscream and my daughter among others. This mission to reclaim Frostmourne. I know little about Hellscream, but you do not. I have an investment in the safe returning of the blade to its proper place. It’s recovery is important. Perhaps of the utmost. So I ask what can you tell me about Hellscream? His capabilities? His loyalty? And the chance of his success, but which I mean of returning the blade to where it belongs?
Arthak Saurfang says: You know of Garrosh’s father, yes?
Shaspira says: I do.
Arthak Saurfang says: There’s no shadow deeper in the Horde than that of Grommash Hellscream. There’s no orc more respected. And I believe no orc who hates him more than his own son. Garrosh is cunning and strong, but more than anything, Garrosh does not stop. Ever. I cannot speak to his loyalties outside the fact that Garrosh wishes to leave that shadow and surpass it. If bringing Frostmourne back will get him what he seeks? I’ve yet to encounter anything that could stop him.
Shaspira says: The poor man seems to have maneuvered himself into quite a predicament, for it seems there are very few outcomes this could provide. One will likely lead to his death. The other… would see him return, very much out of the shadow of his father, as a hero, but we remember what we learned about heroes, yes? I thank you for your insight, Arthak. That is all I need at the moment. I wish you fortune.
Arthak Saurfang says: Thank you, lady Shaspira, for your time.
Shaspira says: As ever, act with deliberation Arthak.

She nods and dismisses him.

As he leaves, Arthak uses the sending stone to contact Gul’dan, requesting a meeting next he is on the mainland. Gul’dan informs him to seek him at Stormreaver Spire.

Arthak reconvenes with Halno, Azgadaan and Rehgar, and he also opts to bring Sadras and Azuka (though the latter is for observation, not the manor infiltration), and they board the Summerfall and begin their sail back to the mainland. Azgadaan makes a detect magic scroll on the voyage over.

Nyxxa goes to speak with Selin, accompanied by Levia.

Levia Blackflight says: Sorry I got us into this mess.
Nyxxa says: You did what I told you to do. Plus this is ultimately a side effect of, I believe, fel magic in general. This likely won’t be the last time something like this happens.

As they approach the Stormreaver spire, it seems the Shadowsword are giving them a wide berth. Selin is inside, waiting. There are a few Shadowsword fighters training, and he is overseeing them. They see him practice a bit with the trainees, and they are unable to break through his guard, shoving the others away.

Selin dismisses the trainees as he walks over to the pair of them.

Selin Fireheart says: I was wondering if the two of you would stop by again today. That was quite the display, Miss Blackflight.

Levia looks down.

Nyxxa says: If you have a moment, we would like to talk. I don’t want to take too much of your time.
Selin Fireheart says: Of course not.
Nyxxa says: Might we do so in private?

Selin leads them to a side room, which was likely Lor’themar’s office at one point. The door closes behind them.

Selin Fireheart says: You wished to speak, I assume it’s because you wish to apologize.
Nyxxa says: Of course.
Selin Fireheart says: There’s no need.
Nyxxa says: Oh?
Selin Fireheart says: Why would there be. Did you think I would not condone your actions?

Levia looks between the pair of them.

Selin Fireheart says: Miss Blackflight, she and the others have underestimated you. Since you proved yourself, and became one of us, they have consistently belittled you, and made themselves believe you weak. Yet at the first opportunity, you proved them wrong. One who makes such rash underestimations about their opponent is someone that would be a liability, not an asset. If anything, I should be thanking you. Though her raw talent was admirable, and her devotion remarkable, she was a fool. And that ultimately lead to her death. She invited that violence, and was unable to prevent it. Though our numbers are one smaller, we’ve grown stronger, as have you. And if you’re concerned that grand magister Runesight’s opinion may differ, the reports he receives will ensure he does not follow up any further. So if that’s all you came here for, then you are dismissed. Thank you for your service to the Shadowsword.

Nyxxa looks to Levia.

Nyxxa says: Anything else you wish to say?
Levia Blackflight says: No, my lord, thank you.
Selin Fireheart says: If our people are to grow strong and survive, we’ll need more people like you. Both of you. I trust you will remember this and carry it close to your hearts as you move forward.
Nyxxa says: I’m glad you understood.
Selin Fireheart says: Of course.
Nyxxa says: Though I imagine there may be some growing pains.
Selin Fireheart says: Certainly. Some may desire to come for you, Levia, but if they do, I trust you’ll strengthen our people where necessary. Fear is a weapon. Fear is a tool. But if it is allowed to compromise your judgement so you turn your blades on those on your own side, fear is a weakness. Show no fear, Miss Blackflight.
Levia Blackflight says: As you say, sir.
Nyxxa says: If you needed any assistance with combat training today, I’d be happy to assist.
Selin Fireheart says: That would be most insightful for many people. They bore witness to your companion’s skill, I think many would like to witness your own. Doubly so with your own techniques, Levia. Your magics are unique. Rare. They should be coveted by the Shadowsword. Perhaps we can show the others that is the truth. I personally would be interested in seeing how you fight. The techniques displayed by you and lady Caria are unusual, and fascinating. One can only learn by being on the other end of a foreign blade.
Nyxxa says: Indeed. And I’m sure I’m not the only one who is interested in teaching. Though I’m not sure how interested you’d be in orc training.
Selin Fireheart says: As I said, one could only learn at the end of foreign steel. Learn or die. We’ve done some cross-disciplinary training, but there is only so much patient sparring the orcish people can participate in. Unfortunately, some of my warriors are liable to break bones, but that too would be a lesson, I suppose.
Nyxxa says: Quite. And I believe there is one orc in particular who would be interested in teaching if I can pry him from his work.
Selin Fireheart says: And if you are speaking of the orc I am thinking of, that in itself would be the challenge.

He grins, and Nyxxa smiles in return.

Nyxxa says: Any case, I’m glad I was able to bring the Shadowsword’s attention to Levia’s talents.
Selin Fireheart says: I am as well. It’s time she got the recognition she deserves. The fear she deserves to illicit.

Nyxxa looks at Levia with an unsettling smile.

They go out to the main area to demonstrate, and it seems the training of the Shadowsword is quite rigorous. But there is a familiarity in Selin’s techniques, to Nyxxa in particular. She suspects that the techniques he uses, which are utilized by the Spellbreakers. All of them can detect or dispel magic freely, and all Spellbreakers can channel magic into the edges of their weapons which produces a slight mana burning effect. Each of their strikes can burn magical energy off anyone it hits, and they can overload the weapon with mana break to do the same thing. They can counter magic with innate abilities, and they can also steal magic abilities. She believes that the spellbreaker techniques and the techniques of the Illidari may have come from a shared source.

They stay the night in the Stormreaver Spire, and Nyxxa has dinner with Selin. They compare histories, Selin filling Nyxxa in on the history of the spellbreakers, and Nyxxa explaining that the satyrs were a “blessing” from Sargeras after the first war.

While there, Nyxxa observes a degree of traffic among the warlocks and Shadowsword. Orcs are moving supplies, like crates and barrels and equipment, and loading it onto carts outside.

She doesn’t respond to Khadgar that night.

December 19th

Caria waltzes into the Stormreaver Spire that morning as Nyxxa wanted to speak with her.

Nyxxa says: I just received word from Arthak and company. I hear we’re making a move soon, and I wanted to see if you wanted to add another magister to your list.

Caria thinks for a moment.

Caria Felsoul says: What is your plan? You’ve been working on that Magistrix’s manor… is that where you’re planning on hitting?
Nyxxa says: Yes.
Caria Felsoul says: Hmm… I’m normally the kind of person who works alone, or at least in smaller groups than that. I’m not sure how I feel about working alongside your… friends. Your patience for them is higher than mine.
Nyxxa says: Well, if we get in together, the manor is big enough we could go our separate ways. And it would be an opportunity to fight side-by-side. Those opportunities are rare. I just thought I’d offer, in any case.

Caria thinks for a moment.

Caria Felsoul says: I’ll consider it. You plan to go in today, then?
Nyxxa says: Today or tomorrow at the latest. I think, in any case, it would be fun to watch what happens. Probably more so for you than me.
Caria Felsoul says: I can’t make any promises. After all, I can’t say that I trust your friends. Not all of them, at least.
Nyxxa says: Why not?
Caria Felsoul says: Well you’ve heard the nasty rumors about your friend Azgadaan? For one.
Nyxxa says: I’ve heard some things. But I feel, having met him personally, has been overblown slightly.
Caria Felsoul says: Perhaps. Simply, a man willing to defy his father, a man as powerful as Jaraxxus, must be either incredibly powerful, incredibly brave, or incredibly foolish. And any of the senses, wholly untrustworthy.
Nyxxa says: He’s proven himself capable. Either way, it’s your decision. I just thought it would be fun.
Caria Felsoul says: It very well could be. I’ll consider it. I’ll be in touch.
Nyxxa says: Thank you, and that’s the very least I could ask of you.

Caria departs, leaving Nyxxa and Levia, who go on a walk.

Levia Blackflight says: Why do you want her to join us, if you don’t mind me asking?

Nyxxa does a quick look around using see invisibility.

Nyxxa says: Well, it is an enclosed space, and I am ultimately curious about how she does fight. The more she’s with us, the more I can account for where she is. Plus, despite my concerns, she is powerful, and she would be an asset when we go in. Arthak would likely agree.
Levia Blackflight says: Fair enough. I just… I still don’t like her. She makes me feel uneasy.
Nyxxa says: That is a reasonable response.

Arthak and the others also arrive, and Halno tries to raise some skeletons while Arthak goes to speak to people. He manages to get six skeletons, and two skeletal wolves.

Arthak arrives at Stormreaver Spire and sees Levia and Nyxxa hanging out there. Nyxxa flags him down, and tells him about the chance for him to train some Shadowsword elves if he was interested. He does seem intrigued by the idea.

However, Nyxxa informs him that Caria seemed more ambivalent about helping them. Namely because words of Azgadaan’s deeds had gotten back to her. Nyxxa also informs Arthak what happened with Levia, and Selin’s response.

Arthak seems proud. And he smiles when Levia attempts to say some broken orcish.

Further inside, Arthak finds Gul’dan.

Gul'dan says: Arthak, welcome.

He looks to the rest of the individuals.

Gul'dan says: Leave us!

The other orcs in the room promptly leave.

Arthak Saurfang says: Elder. Regarding the mist, well, I had other ideas. But before that I wished to discuss recent events with you, and how they might affect the future. If you have the time.
Gul'dan says: Of course. Please, do go on.
Arthak Saurfang says: I will keep it simple. I suspect you have heard of my meeting with the warchief.
Gul'dan says: Yes. I did. The evidence is… plain… to see. I trust you’ve recovered from your self-mutilation?
Arthak Saurfang says: I have.
Gul'dan says: That was a powerful statement, Arthak. If the warchief was not afraid before, I wager he certainly is now.
Arthak Saurfang says: That was not my intention.
Gul'dan says: When one becomes as powerful as Blackhand, it is easy to see threats in every shadow.
Arthak Saurfang says: It can also be easy to make shadows into threats.

Gul’dan laughs.

Gul'dan says: Wise words.
Arthak Saurfang says: In regards to that, I… have made inquiries, and from what I’ve heard, it appears that the warchief intends for me to stay here and guard Quel’danas and the portal once the barrier is dropped. Assuming that is true, I can see advantages to it, just as I can see advantages to being on the front lines. Thus I am making inquiries. I have my own advantages, but others may find a benefit in me being in one place or another, and that’s a factor to consider.
Gul'dan says: I believe the greatest factor is what it does for your position in the Horde. Blackhand, indeed, plans on stationing you on the isle of Quel’danas to defend the Dark Portal. ‘Tis not a glamorous job, but an important one nonetheless. But one clan as yourself, a force of mighty young warriors wishing to prove themselves, would be invaluable on the front lines. You’ve proven yourself to be a most competent champion. However. Were you act in defiance of the warchief’s desires, that too would be a message sent to him. One that all would hear. My young friend, do you trust the warchief’s judgement?

Arthak gives Gul’dan a careful look.

Gul'dan says: Between you and I.
Arthak Saurfang says: Everything I have done, I have done in support of the Horde. Jubei’thos, the Thunderlords. I cut out my eye as a gesture of loyalty. It does not appear that this gesture has been appreciated or recognized.
Gul'dan says: Quite the contrary. You have proven yourself as a most loyal ally of the Horde time and time again. You surrendered your position as the vanguard to give others the chance to claim glory, yet still, you claimed it. You carved a name for yourself from nothing, and in a short year, you now lead a clan of your own, built on a legacy you have for yourself. Built on a legacy of service, of strength. It was by your hand that we were able to come to this land, for without you, we would have not found the draenei’s god. Nor the draenei. In the meantime, Blackhand has… watched. Since he’s claimed the Doomhammer, he’s been slow to wield it. His injuries have struck fear into his heart. He’s grown impotent. And I fear that in time his weakness will… spread amongst the Horde. We have a great destiny to accomplish here. On this world. A great conquest. Makes one wonder… who should be the one to spearhead such a conquest? Who should wield the Horde? I would not expect the answer to be a frightened old man. But that is perhaps the musings of another old man, one that knows no fear. I’m not alone in these thoughts. Certainly you’ve noticed it. The tides are shifting, my young friend. That eye of yours was only the beginning, I wager. So do what your warrior’s instincts, honed over dozens of victories and dozens of defeats. Trust what your heart tells you. What your blood tells you.
Arthak Saurfang says: Thank you, elder.
Gul'dan says: Of course. Always happy to provide wisdom for a promising young chieftain like yourself.
Arthak Saurfang says: I serve the Horde, but you have given me much to think on.
Gul'dan says: And think on it you will.

He puts his non-gauntleted hand on Arthak’s shoulder.

Gul'dan says: As the war shifts into its opening volleys, I wager the truth will come to find itself laid bare before all. I am, of course, but a humble adviser. It is not my duty nor my responsibility to determine who would be chosen as warchief. But… war will ensure that he who is worthy of the seat shall sit there. Be it Blackhand or… someone else. The Horde will endure. That is certainty.
Arthak Saurfang says: That it will. You have my word, of course, elder, that this conversation… no word will pass outside these walls.
Gul'dan says: Of course, my young friend. After all, advice and musing is just that. And is something rather… personal I would say.
Arthak Saurfang says: I would agree.
Gul'dan says: I wish you blood and thunder on your raid.
Arthak Saurfang says: Yes, that is the next step. Hopefully this should break the ban’dinoriel. It is in regards to this raid I wish to speak to you further. It occured to me that, were the Resistance to make a brazen move, the day we enter the manor. The day that that barrier drops will be a time. Many eyes, most, even, will be on Kilnar Goldensword’s manor to see what will come out of it. I would wager that the Resistance, if they have, whatever their most risky endeavor would be. That would be their opportune moment. I’m going to make arrangements if I can with Dal’rend to see that the Clipped Wing is prepared for such an eventuality. But given our previous conversations, it would be good to bring this up with you as well. This could be an opportunity.

Gul’dan smiles.

Gul'dan says: That it could be, and you’ll be pleased to know that I am not foolish enough to believe our activities have gone unnoticed by the Resistance. That is precisely why they will fail. I should thank them. I have learned a great deal from watching them over the course of the last few months. If they seek to destroy the Red Mist before we are able to deploy it, they will find that most difficult. I have no doubt they will neutralize some of it, but I have ensured that there is enough of it hidden that it will find its mark.
Arthak Saurfang says: I see.

Arthak raises an eyebrow.

Arthak Saurfang says: You think their target would be the mist?
Gul'dan says: I’m certain that if they have discovered the presence of this weapon, I suspect between magical and mundane scouts, they’ve likely discovered the presence of a weapon. There is only so much security that can be done, and I have taken a risk, one that has already paid off.
Arthak Saurfang says: I see. So. In their efforts to neutralize it, they will instead fall into a trap where it will deployed upon them.
Gul'dan says: In any of their endeavors, my young friend. The groundwork has already been laid. They need only arrive at their destination, and they will find it to be too late.
Arthak Saurfang says: Well played, elder. Then in that case, the only other thing I thought to mention was the possibility, if all else failed, or opportunity presented itself. Sinestra’s manor has become a recurring holdfast of the Resistance. Given her threat, it would also be an… advantageous place to demonstrate the Mist’s effectiveness.
Gul'dan says: It could be, but time is growing short. And soon our invasion will begin properly. We shall see how the wheel turns.
Arthak Saurfang says: That we shall. I do hope to attempt to neutralize Sinestra before the ban’dinoriel falls, but that is a secondary objective. I do not regret alienating her, but that also leaves the responsibility of dealing with her on my shoulders.
Gul'dan says: I suppose it does. Perhaps the opportunity will present itself.
Arthak Saurfang says: She is a mad dog. Soon enough she will attempt to bite.
Gul'dan says: We will be ready to put her down.

Arthak nods.

Arthak Saurfang says: In that case, I believe I must make the final arrangements for the manor raid. But thank you for your time and council, elder.
Gul'dan says: Of course, and if you convince Dal’rend to assist you, I might be of service to him. Please, send him my way. I have a special assignment for him, if he is willing to take it.
Arthak Saurfang says: I will inform him. Hoping I can get him to see past whatever problems his father and I are having. Lok’tar, Gul’dan.
Gul'dan says: Lok’tar, my friend.

Arthak heads out.

As Azgadaan heads over to the outside of Kilnar’s manor, there is a whistle that attracts his attention. He turns and he sees Samaara step out of an alleyway.

Samaara says: My lord, if you would follow me, I have some things you would wish to know about.

She bows and gestures for him to follow her. She seems on edge.

Azgadaan says: It’s better than doing it in the streets where there are ears.
Samaara says: My thoughts exactly.

They find somewhere private.

Samaara says: Azgadaan, I assume your presence here indicates you are entering the manor.
Azgadaan says: Indeed.
Samaara says: As I suspected. Things are moving quickly.
Azgadaan says: Yes, they are.
Samaara says: I also suspect the ban’dinoriel is short to fall. The Clipped Wing coalition has been doing a great deal of work. Every day I see more mages slain.
Azgadaan says: … Indeed. Some point soon the barrier will fall.
Samaara says: Very soon, Azgadaan.
Azgadaan says: Do we have time to cast a spell? It’ll take about 10 minutes.
Samaara says: I cannot linger.
Azgadaan says: Well, I have a gift for you.

He pulls out what seems to be a plain rock. It’s actually a rock-like box. Samaara takes it and looks at it curiously then opens it and slips the shard from inside the stone.

She looks up at Azgadaan with a smile.

Samaara says: You didn’t have to, Azgadaan, but I’m glad you did.
Azgadaan says: Well, I wanted to give you… something. At some point. And that’s the best I could do.
Samaara says: This may have come at a… perhaps the best time.
Azgadaan says: Perhaps.
Samaara says: No matter what happens, Azgadaan, remember everything you’ve learned. And don’t be afraid to reach out to me if you have to. With this, I shan’t ever truly be far.
Azgadaan says: Soon I’ll try to contact you in other ways as well. Each day I’m getting stronger.
Samaara says: And wiser. And kinder.
Azgadaan says: … thank you. Your words mean a lot.

Azgadaan looks around and he sees no one. He hopes that Samaara would notice them if there was anyone there. He then attempts to give Samaara a hug. She tenses for a moment, but she takes a deep breath, and wraps her arms around him as well. She’s shaking a bit, but she steadies her nerves.

Samaara says: I’m proud of you, Azgadaan, and I’m not the only one.
Azgadaan says: Thank you. You’re amazing. And you’ll be able to get through this.
Samaara says: And so will you.

Samaara smiles. As she parts, she gives his hand a squeeze.

Samaara says: Kronokai cristor, my friend. I’ll see you again.

Azgadaan mouths the words in return, and Samaara turns, puts her hood up, glances back, and then disappears into the alley.

Azgadaan takes some time to ritual cast detect magic. He sees magic around him, coming from himself, coming from the magic items he carries. But there doesn’t seem to be anything else.

Azgadaan heads out to cover the rest of the distance to the prismatic wall. Halno has been outfitting his minions, and two of the skeletons are mounted on the skeletal dire wolves.

Arthak also arrives and goes to speak with Flamescowl, who is as impressed as he can be with what Arthak had managed. The other people that had been recruited are also there, including a member of the Shadowsword and Rend.

Arthak goes to talk to Rend.

Dal'rend Blackhand says: I shouldn’t be surprised. You always wanted to be more like me.

He taps his eyepatch.

Arthak Saurfang says: Is that how you lost yours?
Dal'rend Blackhand says: No. I tend to stay on my father’s good side.
Arthak Saurfang says: Would you believe me if I said I tried?

Dal’rend laughs.

Dal'rend Blackhand says: I would believe that. Though history says that you and my father are like oil and water. You don’t exactly get along.
Arthak Saurfang says: Unfortunately so.
Dal'rend Blackhand says: I suppose it’s a Blackhand thing. To constantly butt heads with Saurfangs, ey?
Arthak Saurfang says: It may be. Though it doesn’t have to be.
Dal'rend Blackhand says: Is that why you wanted to speak with me, Arthak?
Arthak Saurfang says: Partly. Before anything else happens, I want it to be said. Everything between us, the past. I don’t care. Revenge, retribution, comeuppance, whatever anyone wants to call it, I’m not interested. You did what you did, I did what I did. I’m not interested in being your enemy, Dal’rend.
Dal'rend Blackhand says: Tell me, Arthak. What are you interested in being?
Arthak Saurfang says: Whatever the Horde needs me to be.

Dal’rend laughs.

Dal'rend Blackhand says: That’s what I thought you’d say.
Arthak Saurfang says: I can give you a different one, but it wouldn’t be as true.
Dal'rend Blackhand says: You’re a strange one, Arthak. Most other orcs in your position would not forgive someone who threw him to the wolves in such a way as I and my brother did. But for what it’s worth, I appreciate it. But you’ll understand that I did not become the… sole chieftain of the Blacktooth Grin by trusting. Not without cause or reason.
Arthak Saurfang says: I understand.
Dal'rend Blackhand says: Nor did you become the chieftain of the Broken Blade by forgiving those that wronged you. Bladefury was evidence of that. But you are right. I am not my father, and I have no intention of continuing with the games of chiding and torment that Maim and I participated in. You’ll become what the Horde needs, and I too, plan to do the same.
Arthak Saurfang says: I’m glad. Truly.
Dal'rend Blackhand says: But I suppose a man’s words can only be measured by their actions. Time will be the only true proof to you that I am not my father. Likewise could be said to you.
Arthak Saurfang says: Well spoken. Then on that note, I have something for you. You may have already been moving on it, but I’m anticipating that the Resistance may take advantage of the raid to try something brazen. I was hoping to speak with you to make sure the Clipped Wing is ready to strike them down when they try. Whatever it is they will try.
Dal'rend Blackhand says: Months ago you surrendered your position as vanguard to my brother and I, and you found glory elsewhere. It is only fair here and now that this trophy, this victory, is yours. But make no mistake. I intend to claim glory elsewhere.

He grins.

Arthak Saurfang says: I would expect nothing less. Who knows, I may come out of that manor and see you holding the Shrike’s head.
Dal'rend Blackhand says: That… would be sufficient repayment, I would say. For you slaying their general. A contest in its own sort of way.
Arthak Saurfang says: Well, there is one more detail I was asked to pass on. I spoke to elder Gul’dan about this. He is making his own preparations, but he asked that I pass to you that if you are willing he has a particular mission he believes you would be suited for.
Dal'rend Blackhand says: I’ll go to him at once. Good hunting, Saurfang.
Arthak Saurfang says: And to you, Blackhand.

Dal’rend nods, pats his chest with his fist, and passes by Arthak. Arthak returns to the rest of the party.

Arthak Saurfang says: Alright, what is the order in which these barriers need to be taken down?
Ritssyn Flamescowl says: The red layer is first.

Rehgar nods.

Rehgar Earthfury says: I’m on it.
Ritssyn Flamescowl says: The second one is destroyed by a strong wind. I take it you procured that as well?
Rehgar Earthfury says: I can handle that too.
Ritssyn Flamescowl says: Next up, Keli’dan.

Keli’dan nods and cracks his knuckles.

'Ritssyn Flamescowl says: The next layer is the one our Shadowsword friend will take care of.

Arthak nods at the Shadowsword elf.

'Ritssyn Flamescowl says: I’ll handle the next layer. The one after that needs a spell that sheds daylight.

Levia nods, indicating she will take care of it.

'Ritssyn Flamescowl says: The last one will need to be hit with dispel magic.
Azgadaan says: I got that one, gentlemen.
'Ritssyn Flamescowl says: Good. Lets not waste time.
Arthak Saurfang says: Good. Those that are spectating, once we go in, form a perimeter. Anyone but us leaves? Cut them down. If you are going to watch, be useful. If anyone wants to go in with us, they will see rewards from inside the manor, and in favor from the Broken Blade. Be ready in five.
'Ritssyn Flamescowl says: This was your undertaking, Saurfang. My goal was to break the wall. The spoils within? I don’t give a shit what you do with them.

The other orcs come to the same agreement.

Things then burst into action, destroying the layers one by one.

Arthak Saurfang says: Alright, lets move.

They charge in with Halno’s retinue of undead soldiers bringing up the rear around their master. Nyxxa happens to catch movement out of the side of her vision, and she sees Caria glide to the roof of the building. She disappears inside, her presence unseen except for Nyxxa.

As they enter, the group is greeted by a long and elegant hallway. It’s pristine, marble white almost as far as they can see. It’s beautiful and unmarred by the war outside. There are a number of doors off the long hallway, and the first thing they notice are small holes at the very edges of the hallway. There is the trickling of running water, and a small stream of water seems to run beneath a lip. Periodically a spout of water will leap from the miniature rivers, seemingly dancing and skipping across it.

Nyxxa uses detect magic, and everything in the mansion seems to be magical. Even the water itself, which is conjuration magic.

Arthak Saurfang says: Alright. Do we explore side rooms, or push through to the hallway?
Azgadaan says: We should probably peek in the side rooms in case there is anything there.

Azgadaan starts ritual casting a spell as he goes, and Halno sends his familiar into the first side room. It appears to be a parlor of some kind with benches and a coat rack that still has some coats on it. There are shoes still placed at various junctures, as well as a few very tall mirrors. There is also a basin of water, and they can hear the water trickling in it. There are also some books stacked in areas.

The familiar continues scouting ahead into the adjoining room while the group moves up the hallway.

In the adjoining room are several long tables with storage departments below them, and chairs strewn about. There are a few stray dice on one of the tables, and some cards--a Hearthstone card on the ground. The hand continues around and rejoins the group, before continuing into another side room.

As soon as the hand enters there is a shimmering wall of magic in the doorway, and there is the sound of birds chirping. But nothing seems to happen.

The upper tier of the room appears to be a balcony of some kind with tables and chairs, and there are a few bird feeders that are hanging. They are mostly empty, and there is a small crate that seems to have had the lid removed. There are two small birds pecking at the seed inside, and there are some books on the table. Some stairs lead down, and there are vines and plants overgrown in the lower tier in what was likely once a botanical garden.

There seems to be a sensor above the plants that is magically providing sunlight.

The hand retreats and tries to go to another room, but both the doors on either side are locked. However, the pair of doors further in are not. The first room is rather sterile-looking with a large basin and two seats. There are large mirrors, and the room appears to be a sort of bathroom.

The hand looks less decayed in the reflection in the mirrors, and the reflection can even be seen through the blindsense.

In the lower tier there are braziers and a grate in the center. There is a door that leads out to the hall that seems to be one-way only.

Across the hall, the door is locked. They give the door a once over and they see nothing of note, so Nyxxa moves in and tries to pick the lock. It takes a few moments, but then it clicks open.

She takes a look inside, and it appears to be servant’s quarters of some kind. There are beds and clothes strewn about, and some bedding is tousled. As she takes it all in, there is a sound from behind the group.

The fountain right behind Azgadaan had launched into the air, and the water shoots down and wraps itself around the skeleton riding the skeletal wolf. The water constricts and crushes the skeleton’s head, which crumples to the ground.

The water continues its fall and slips back into the fountain.

Immediately to Nyxxa’s right the same thing happens, attacking Levia. Parts of it are constricting her, trying to pull her down into the narrow stream of water. Nyxxa grabs for it, but her hand passes through water. A strange, serpentine creature made of water materializes as it’s trying to pull Levia.

Nyxxa uses see invisibility, and then strikes at the creature. Her blade cuts through the water effortlessly, and there are no visible wounds on the creature, but the blade struck true, stunning the creature. However, it is still holding onto Levia.

Nyxxa strikes again, and once more, she carves into it, doing a good deal of damage. It is forced to drop Levia, and Nyxxa nearly drops it entirely.

Azgadaan trades positions with a skeleton and swings with his maul. The creatures burbles and fades into the water. He smiles at Levia, giving her a bardic inspiration die. Levia smiles in return.

Nyxxa glances around and, due to her see invisibility, she can see the remaining water weird in the water. She points it out to Arthak.

The water weird leaps out from behind the group, and it releases a powerful spout of water at one of the skeletal wolves. It is crushed by the blast.

Several readied actions go off on the momentarily revealed water weird, including Arthak’s javelin, but many of them miss as the water weird disappears again.

Levia reaches out a hand, her eyes turning black as she uses curse of weakness on the water weird.

Nyxxa takes a few shots with her longbow, hitting the weird.

Azgadaan tries to swing at it, as does the remaining skeletal dire wolf, but their attacks miss.

The water weird leaps again and tries to constrict Nyxxa. Azgadaan swings at it as it passes, connecting. Halno also snags a chill touch on it. However, it continues to hurt Nyxxa as it tries to drag her into the three inch opening in the wall. Levia also uses her own chill touch.

Arthak then rolls in with his sword, severing the creature, and it too slumps into the water, now dead.

They take a moment to nurse their wounds after the attack, and Nyxxa opens the other door, which is also a set of living quarters it seems. There doesn’t seem to be anything particularly valuable around. It’s mostly well-made clothing. And some hearthstone decks, which he grabs.

They continue further in, finally entering the manor in full.
